About the Role
The Manager, Community Engagement and Outreach is responsible for managing EWON’s Community Outreach & Engagement team, and leading the strategic delivery of EWON’s outreach and engagement program in collaboration with community and government service organisations across NSW.


Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of EWON’s Community Engagement Strategy and our First Nations Engagement Strategy.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of the Annual Outreach Program including EWON’s Bring Your Bills events, attendance at events run by other organisations, and delivering presentations to peak bodies and community organisations about EWON’s role.
  • Manage the delivery of other EWON events such as Consultative Council Meetings and the Annual Community Worker Forum.
  • Identify new community partnership opportunities and other engagement opportunities that increase access for our priority communities.
  • Manage the Community Outreach & Engagement team (5 team members), including planning, reporting and performance monitoring.
  • Identify appropriate measures to evaluate the impact of community engagement initiatives and work with other teams to further develop EWON’s impact‑reporting framework.
  • Provide strong leadership and foster a positive team culture, develop capability, and drive performance and effective change management.



Required Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or extensive equivalent experience.
  • Team management: experience managing a team, fostering employee engagement through a coaching style, and developing employee capability.
  • Community Engagement: Experience working with diverse community groups including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities, First Nations communities, seniors and people with disabilities.
  • Strategy and business planning: experience developing and implementing strategy and business plans, and reporting on achievements particularly through an impact framework.
  • Events management: experience coordinating events or managing a team that coordinates events.
  • Project management: experience managing projects on tight deadlines.
  • Interest in Ombudsman schemes and/or the energy and water industries: While existing knowledge of Ombudsman schemes or the energy or water industry is not required, the candidate is expected to rapidly upskill their knowledge in these areas.
